Why We Are Here

The IFC opened its doors in December of 1999 as a solo pediatric practice of Dr. Rosemary Fernandez Stein. The clinic has grown to a staff of four board certified pediatricians. The clinic offers care to patients in English, Spanish, and French. The majority of the clinic’s staff is bilingual. The clinic is privately owned and has never accepted outside funding. It has grown to be the second largest pediatric clinic in the county.

The clinic’s co-owner is Dr. David Stein. He is a former veteran military physician who is board certified in Family Practice. Dr. Fernandez Stein was a contract pediatrician on the staff of Blanchfield Army Community Hospital in Ft. Campbell, KY in 1995-1996. Due to the doctors’ extensive military background, the clinic is proud to accept Tricare and participate in the care of the children of our active and retired military.

In June, 2002 the clinic moved from a rented site to its current location which is owned by the clinic. The building has six exam rooms and a small lab. IFC Pediatrics is open six days per week so that our patients can see their doctor when they are sick. Same day appointments are encouraged when children are ill in order to decrease wait time. Appointment times at IFC pediatrics are 5 minutes longer than at other clinics. We feel that better care is delivered when the parent has the time necessary to spend with their doctor.

The philosophy of IFC Pediatrics is to work toward successful outcomes for our children. In support of our efforts, the clinic has two programs to help our children. The first program is the clinic’s Soccer in Scouting pack. Since 2006, the pack has met once a week to learn Scouting and play organized soccer. Each year, between 15 and 20 boys in grades 1-6 play soccer at Elmira Park on Thursdays. The second program is the clinic’s Mustard Seed program. The clinic works in conjunction with local churches to pick up children from their school and transport them to the church. They receive tutoring in subjects in which they are struggling to master. They also receive basic religious instruction followed by organized activities and play time. The program impacts 100 – 200 children each year. Both of our programs attempt to provide our children with opportunities for learning and mentoring aimed at improving their chance for success in life.
